60 Bigs in 60 Minutes

Every child deserves someone in their corner. Right now, hundreds of kids in Kansas City are waiting for a mentor. That’s why, in honor of Big Brothers Big Sisters KC’s 60th anniversary, we are launching 60 Bigs in 60 minutes on October 28th —a community challenge to recruit 60 new mentors in just one big power hour!

WHY THIS MATTERS

Mentorship changes lives.

• Littles in BBBSKC are 20% more likely to attend college.

• Littles report a 71%  increase in self-esteem.

• But most importantly — they know someone believes in them.

By stepping up as a Big, you’ll provide the support, encouragement, and friendship a child needs to reach their full potential.

THE CHALLENGE

We’re calling on Kansas City to make history. For the first time in BBBS history, we want to recruit 60 Bigs in 60 minutes.

This isn’t just about hitting a number—it’s about giving 60 kids the mentors they’ve been waiting for. With your help, we can make sure more children grow up with someone cheering them on.

WHO CAN BE A BIG?

Being a Big doesn’t take perfection—it just takes showing up. You don’t need special skills or experience, just the willingness to be a consistent, positive influence in a child’s life.

• Big Sisters

• Big Couples: Mentor one of our waiting Little Brothers together as a team (our greatest need!)

INCENTIVES

• Complete the quick app on October 28 or during pre-registration and complete the info session (virtually or in person by November 3rd, and be entered to win a $350 Visa Gift Card.
• Four $60 gift cards will be given out during the power hour from 9-10 am on October 28th for those who complete the form during that time.

ALREADY A BIG?

Current Bigs, you can still help! If you refer someone during the power hour from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on October 28th and they attend the info session by November 3rd, you’ll be entered to win a $350 Visa Gift Card. You can also help spread the word by posting on your social media during the power hour using this social media kit!
