Raytown Historical Plaque Official Unveiling
On May 4, 2022, at 1:30 pm there will be an official unveiling of Raytown’s newest historical markers at 63rd street and Raytown Road. These markers were presented to the City of Raytown and its citizens on September 11, 2021, by the Raytown Main Street Association with a grant from The Truman Heartland Community Foundation of Independence Missouri. The plaques explain the history of Raytown and include a map showing the routes the Santa Fe Trail and the Rock Island Line took through Raytown.
The unveiling will be hosted by Raytown Main Street Association with assistance from the Raytown Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism and Raytown’s Mayor Mike McDonough. Mr. Phil Hanson President and CEO at Truman Heartland Community Foundation will also be in attendance. The Raytown Historical Society and Santa Fe Trails Association were also instrumental in the creation of these plaques and will be recognized for their contribution during the event.
