City Hall hosts Town Hall to inform voters on Upcoming Ballot Questions
Two important questions for Raytown residents
Two important questions for Raytown residents
On Thursday, March 12, Raytown City Hall will host a Town Hall to education residents on the upcoming ballot questions on the April 7, 2026 Municipal Election.
The Town Hall will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 10000 E 59th Street from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. This is a come-and-go event. While no formal presentation will occur, several City staff will be available to answer questions.
The April 7 Municipal Election will ask Raytown voters two important questions:
- Shall the City of Raytown, Missouri continue to impose an existing sales tax of three-eighths cent (3/8¢) for Capital Improvements for a term of ten (10) years, which may include the retirement of debt under previously authorized bonded indebtedness?
- Shall the City of Raytown, Missouri continue to impose an existing sales tax of one-half cent (1/2¢) for Transportation purposes for a term of ten (10) years?
The Capital Improvements Sales Tax generates nearly $1.5 million annually for police equipment, City vehicles, court security, stormwater improvements, and more. The Transportation Sales Tax generates more than $1.8 million annually and funds street maintenance, winter weather and snow removal supplies and services, signage, and more.
Both taxes are currently being paid by anyone who makes a purchase in Raytown. These taxes have a 10-year sunset and will expire March 31, 2027.
The last day to register to vote is Wednesday, March 11, 2026. To view your sample ballot before election day, go to the Jackson County Election Board’s website or click this link - jcebmo.org. You can also use this website to check your polling location.
