Name: Virtual Raytown Aldermen Candidate Forum
Date: March 28, 2023
Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM CDT
Event Description:

In anticipation of the election on April 4, the League of Women Voters of Kansas City/Jackson-Clay- Platte Counties (LWVKC/JCP) and the Raytown Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a virtual Candidate Forum via Zoom for Raytown Aldermen on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 6:30 pm. The forum will be live streamed on Zoom and the recording posted on lwvkc.org, Vote411.org and the @LWVKC YouTube channel.

Forums last approximately 90 minutes. The moderator will ask each candidate the same question, selecting from those submitted by the public to: tinyurl.com/LWVKCForumQuestions. The order of candidate responses will be determined by random rotation. Each candidate will be given 90 seconds to respond to each question and two minutes for a closing statement.

LWVKC/JCP is a nonpartisan educational organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. The LWVKC/JCP never endorses or opposes candidates or political parties. In 2022, the League moderated 29 candidate forums and found post-forum viewing on YouTube especially popular.

The public may submit questions for candidates at https://tinyurl.com/LWVKCForumQuestions
Your vote MATTERS! Learn about candidates for the Raytown Board of Aldermen on your April 4 ballot.
The Board of Aldermen propose ordinances and resolutions, as well as approve the City's budget. Only the board of aldermen can make decisions for the city. The mayor, as presiding officer of the board, can propose, suggest and encourage adoption of a proposal, but the mayor only votes to break a tie vote. There are ten aldermen, two from each of five wards. Serve a 4 year term.
